Try something new and creative this weekend with these fun DIY activities that you can do at home.
If someone had told us that we’d be swapping our Europe vacays for baking banana bread during the summer of 2020, we wouldn't have believed it. But yet, here we are trying to entertain ourselves at home in the midst of a global health pandemic. If you’re looking for new ways to have fun while staying safe, here are a few of our top picks.
Put paint brush to canvas and spend some time outside in the sun painting. You can either find a step-by-step template to re-create a painting of your choice or freestyle and let your creative juices flow. Either way, it’s a lot of fun and you may even make something worth hanging up in your bedroom.
Tie dye is currently trending, so why not spend an afternoon creating your very own multi-coloured wardrobe staples. All you need to do is purchase some plain white clothing of your choice, different colour dye and lots of elastic bands. You can get as colourful as you like or keep it super chic with some classic nude tones. Either way, you’ll look fab and save money by making it yourself.
Bake some homemade bread
Join the likes of Khloe Kardashian and make your own sourdough bread. It’s a step up from the cliche Banana Bread (that you have baked 5 times already) and requires more time, effort and patience so you can improve your skills. Your housemates will be very impressed come Sunday morning breakfast.
Adult colouring books are known for their meditative and therapeutic qualities. Relax from a stressful WFH day with a beautiful colouring book in one hand and glass of rosé in the other.
Start a photo album
Go through your 10k strong camera roll (don’t worry, we can relate) and print off all your favourite photo memories to make your own photo album. While Facebook is great for looking back at old pictures, there is nothing better than re-visiting old family photo albums and reminiscing. Now is the perfect time to do those things you've always wished you had the time to do.
With so much time at home, we’re all going through candles more than ever so why not make your own. You can either purchase a candle making kit online or gather all your materials separately if you want to try something out of the ordinary. A homemade candle also makes the perfect gift for when we’re finally able to see our loved ones again.
